An effort to simplify a story as big as Sangkuriang, undoubtedly is a futility. Because that is what I try to do, and of course I will never succeed. I forgot that Sangkuriang is not just a story that covered by human erotism and fantasy of a young man that madly in love with her mother, just like Greek tragedy, Oedipus.

My illustration work is a result of my failure of describing Sangkuriang. I feel like I barely touch the sand that sometimes hit by the waves on the beach. I haven’t dived into the deep of philosophical ocean of Sangkuriang story. The paper I use feels like not enough to describe about human vacillation of its existence which also have a wish to find out about the identity of its humanity. Probably for now, only touching the “skin” of Sangkuriang, is fairly enough for me.
